High frequency technology offers an extremely accurate distance measuring proximity sensor principle. In the close nearfield the resolution is better than 200
nanometer. The function is based on the shift of the resonance frequency of a cylindrical ceramic resonator by approaching conductive targets. Shown in the top photo is the electric field strength (red high, blue
low) inside and outside the ceramic resonator. If a target enters the outside electromagnetic field of the sensor, the resonance frequency is shifted. The absolute value of the frequency shift determines the
distance to the target.

Typical applications:
Distance to target
The sensor measures the distance of the tool to the surface (i.e. welding, cutting or slicing)
Thickness of media
The sensor measures the thickness of paper. It determines how many layers of paper are present or if there is no paper.
Application examples:
Mount the sensor close to the target surface to measure the distance. The sensor works for any metallic material of the target surface like steel,
alumina, copper or brass. A spot area straight in fornt of sensor is sufficient.
After.connecting the sensor to the contoll system and powering on, the sensor starts transmitting the measured distance data. If the target is
moved the sensor outputs continously the actual distance.
The desired update rate and observation range are programmed before delivery.
